EASTENDERS fans have begged bosses to axe a ‘dumb and annoying’ storyline.
In recent weeks, the BBC soap has been exploring George Knight’s heritage, with the pub landlord discovering he was part of the baby farming system.
George – played by Colin Salmon – has struggled to come to terms with the revelations and the fact his birth parents kept so much from him.
On top of that, he realised his adoptive dad Eddie had killed his birth father in a racist attack which he had inadvertently witnessed as a teen.
In a bid to deal with all the feelings inside him, George has been spending time at the Boxing Club, but more recently, he has taken to participating in illegal, underground boxing matches.
However, this part of the storyline has not gone down well with EastEnders viewers.
Taking to X – formerly Twitter – one wrote: “The #EastEnders Fight Club is dumb and annoying. Please stop. Thank you.”
Another added: “So when #George can’t handle his emotions as a 60 year old, he behaves like a belligerent child and goes off into street ring right, ok then, pathetic story line.”
A third tweeted: “WHAT IS GEORGE DOING FGS!!!!!!”
Meanwhile, spoiler pictures for tonight’s episode have revealed George will cheat on partner Elaine Peacock with ex wife, Cindy Beale.
At the start of the year, Cindy and George previously came close to kissing, but were interrupted by Elaine.
The former couple clearly still have a connection and over the past few weeks, George has confided in Cindy more than he has Elaine.
For her part, Cindy has found a number of excuses to be around George more than she needed to be, despite being back together with her other ex-husband, Ian Beale.
Tonight, the pair will share a kiss at the Boxing Club, but will it lead to anything more?
