SCOTS actress Gudrun Ure has sadly died at the age of 98.
The acting legend was best known for her role as the title character in 1980s TV show Super Gran.
Ure’s heartbroken niece today confirmed she had died.
Paying tribute to her “really kind” aunt devastated Kate McNeill said: “She had a very memorable voice.”
I remember my husband was watching Casualty one night, and I went ‘that’s Gudrun’ as soon as I heard the voice,” reports the Mirror.
Born in Milton of Campsie in 1926, Gudrun was a seasoned actress of stage, screen and radio.
She was just 59 when she took on the cult role as the iconic granny for 26 episodes between 1985 and 1987.
The series was based around a grandmother with super powers and books written by Forrest Wilson.
There were two computer games that were inspired by Super Gran’s adventures.
The series was made by Tyne Tees Television for CITV and became hugely popular with people asking “Is there nothing that she cannae do?”
The famous theme tune was performed by Billy Connolly which reached number 32 in the UK charts after it released as a single in March 1985.
Gudrun previously starred in Orson Welles’ 1951 stage production of Othello as Desdemona and appeared in 1953 film “36 Hours” under the artist name Ann Gudrun, when she was aged 27.
She later appeared in TV shows Midsomer Murders, Casualty and The Crow Road.
