EMMERDALE is set for a huge ‘whodunnit’ after Ethan Anderson is violently beaten and left for dead in a revenge attack.

Friday’s episode of the ITV soap saw Ethan crash the car he was driving with Nicky Miligan in the passenger seat as they raced into Hotten to save Suni Sharma from a dodgy situation.

When the solicitor came to, he desperately tried to wake Nicky up – but then made a horrifying decision.

Climbing out of the car, Ethan realised how it looked and decided to drag Nicky to the other side of the car to make it look like he had been driving.

And then just as he had finished, he fled, leaving Nicky to be found by his aunt Moira Dingle.

Previous spoilers revealed that Ethan will confide in his dad Charles after he notices his son acting strangely, but the vicar is left horrified when his son asks him to provide an alibi.

Charles then reports Ethan to the police and he is arrested, which alerts Nicky’s family to the fact he was the one driving at the time of the crash.

In new spoilers, Nicky’s mum Ruby descends into a state of distress at the hospital when husband Caleb tells her they can’t bring Nicky out of his coma just yet.

It’s tense when Ethan and Charles bump into Caleb, as Caleb is furious Ethan’s seemingly fine whilst his son remains on life support.

Later, Cain, Caleb and Ruby are murderous when they spot Ethan in the village, each of them eager for retribution.

The next day, Charles is concerned by Ethan’s absence when he fails to show up to Main Street for the village fete.

Meanwhile, on the Village outskirts, Ethan’s bloodied and bruised as he lies in the middle of the road after a deliberate hit and run, with a car screeching away from the scene. 

Meanwhile, tensions are high as Ruby and Caleb await news on Nicky’s condition.

As the fete takes place in the village, the villagers are alarmed when a battered Ethan limps into view before he collapses on Main Street.

As he comes round, Ethan claims he didn’t see his attacker and as his family clusters around him.

The three most likely suspects – Cain, Caleb and Ruby – watch the spectacle from a distance.

Who was it that left Ethan for dead? And will they admit what they did?
