BRITAIN’S Got Talent has faced yet another “fix” accusation from fans as auditioned continued this weekend.
The ITV talent show’s dedicated fan base is quick to spot if stars have appeared on other shows, and this week was no different.
Denise and Stefan proved charming and funny before their devastating performance[/caption] The couple joked about their first meeting and Denise’s survival breast cancer[/caption]On Sunday night’s show, viewers at home were wowed by blind married couple Denise and Stefan, who appeared as a duo.
They also proved charming and charismatic, with Denise joking about her cancer treatment meaning she “lost half of her favourite boob”, calling her breasts Thelma and Louise.
Stefan and Denise left the judges in stitches with the story of their love, with Denise revealing they met on the train when he asked her for the time.
“What are the chances of a blind man asking a blind women the time?” she laughed.
When Stefan bumped into the piano, he quipped: “You’d think I was blind or something, wouldn’t you?!”
But then Stefan played while Denise sang a stunning rendition of Climb Every Mountain from The Sound of Music, moving the live audience – and particularly Bruno Tonioli – to tears.
Viewers were left raging that the couple didn’t win a golden buzzer from at least one of the judges, declaring them their winner already as they were “positive in a world of negativity” and “what BGT is truly about”.
Regardless, the pair have been sent through, and still have a chance of winning £250,000, along with a slot at the Royal Variety Performance.
However, others noted that it wasn’t Denise’s going for a shot in the spotlight.
In 2003 – three years before she met husband Stefan on the train – Denise took part in Channel 4 series, Operatunity.
The talent search show followed the English National Opera hunting down talent from those without professional operatic experience and training them up to perform in a version of Verdi’s Rigoletto at London’s Coliseum Theatre alongside world class performers.
Denise was one of the two finalists chosen, and alongside Jane Gilchrist shared the role of Gilda.
It is not against the rules for participants to enter Britain’s Got Talent if they have previously been on the show, appeared on other series, or have performed in a professional capacity before.
Britain’s Got Talent continues this weekend on ITV.
