A CHANNEL 4 News presenter crashed off the air after suffering a major mishap during an ad break.

Before he fronted the nightly broadcast, veteran journalist Matt Frei took to the airwaves to give a preview of what was to come during his show.

The seasoned presenter is known for his sharp delivery and concise analysis of news events, so it came as a big surprise when he slipped up.

In preparation for his show, Matt appeared during an ad break to shed light on what will feature in the upcoming news segment.

Starting in his usual top form, but things quickly took a turn for the worst with one viewer snapping up the video and sharing it to X, formally known as Twitter.

In the video, he announced: “Here is what’s coming up tonight on Channel 4 news.

“A former post office boss apologises at the inquiry into the Horizon scandal for appearing to celebrate the 2010 conviction of a pregnant sub-postmistress.”

But from there, events took a haywire turn as he appeared tongue-tied when he tried to give a preview of the next story.

He carried on: “And OJ Simpson dies of cancer at the age of 76.”

Appearing flustered, he couldn’t quite finish the sentence throwing his arms up into the air.

He exclaimed: “The rockstar …” before frantically motioning to the camera and expressively waving his hands.

This was caught by one fan on social media, as he posted a homemade camera recording of the incident.

At 5:53pm last night, he wrote: “So this just happened on Channel 4.”

The error could have been down to producers in his ear as all of a sudden the camera cut away to the studio.

Instead of carrying on for the news anchor to finish up the menu of stories, another advert suddenly crashed onto the airwaves.

A commercial video for the Marella Cruises and Tui Holidays collaboration then played as a female voiceover then announced, “Channel 4 life in the sun.”
