CORONATION Street fans have been left demanding that yet another entire family gets the chop from the show.
Long-running fans of the ITV soap have been left pleading for a cast cull amid the extensive number of regular show characters combined with what many have perceived as a steep decline in quality over the last 24 months.
Corrie fans want the Winter-Brown’s axed[/caption] They insist the family, including Billy Mayhew, have ran their course[/caption] An urgent cast cull has been demanded[/caption]Whilst fans have already made their feelings known about the Nazir family– there is yet another entire brood who the viewers are hoping get the boot.
Disgruntled Coronation Street watchers are hoping to see the entirery of the Winter-Brown clan axed – bar one standout star.
The Winter-Brown clan is headed up by married couple Gemma and Chesney – who have long-divided opinion among soap superfans.
They are joined by their quads and Ches’ son Joseph as well as Gemma’s brother Paul, his husband Billy and their mother, Bernie.
In what some may see as a relief, one of them is guaranteed to have an on-screen exit with Paul, played by Peter Ash, as he battles his MND diagnosis.
Paul’s health has got significantly worse in recent times with the character expected to depart by the end of the year.
Now, fans want his hubby Billy and his sister and brother-in-law to follow suit but mum Bernie, played by Jane Hazelgrove, is safe from fans axing wishes.
Speaking out online, one fan wrote: “Going to be honest, I normally don’t actively hope for an axing because I feel bad for the actors…but I really feel like the entire Winter-Brown family (plus Billy) needs to go.
“They’re too played out, too exaggerated, and too unbelievable.
“They’ve genuinely helped screw up the dynamic of the show and each month makes them more and more obnoxious.”
One fan jumped in to argue: “I’d keep Bernie too. Jane Hazelgrove is a fantastic actress when given the right material.”
That sentiment seemed to be echoed by other fans who pleased with the family to go but keep the matriach in place.
A third superfan added: “Gemma, Chesney & their brood should definitely be given the chop, they offer nothing.”
Another penned: “I like Bernie when she’s away from the family, I wish they’d brought Jane Hazelgrove in to head up a new family as she deserves so much more. That said, I do like her with Dev!
Bernie has been permitted to remain among the fanbase[/caption] Fans are bored of Chesney and Gemma[/caption]“I’m not particularly fussed about Paul although Peter Ash has done an excellent job with the MND storyline. Unfortunately now it’s involving the wider family more I just want it over so that we don’t have to have so much relentless Gemma on screen.”
The Winter-Brown clan are set to be stage over the next few weeks having just introduced Paul and Gemma’s father, Denny.
More secrets are also set to emerge with the shock realisation that Bernie has a secret child lurking somewhere that none of the family have a clue about.
