ESCAPE To The Country fans revisited their heartache over the tragic loss of presenter Jonnie Irwin.
Jonnie served as a presenter on the BBC daytime programme from 2010 to 2023.
In November 2022, Jonnie revealed that he had terminal lung cancer after being diagnosed in 2020.
He sadly passed away in February at just 50 years old, however, he can still be seen on repeats of his programmes.
Viewers were emotional during Thursday’s (May 9) episode of Escape to The Country when they realised Jonnie was presenting.
The sight of the late property expert moved fans, who took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share their condolences to Jonnie’s wife and three children.
One wrote: “Watching @Escape_Country on @BBCOneNI it features one of the late @jonnieirwin He was one of my favourite presenters on the show. Thinking of his family. Rest In Peace Jonnie.”
Another shared: “Sad to see @jonnieirwin on #EscapeToTheCountry. Rest in peace brother.”
A third viewer reflected: “Aw, Jonnie Irwin. #EscapeToTheCountry” while a fourth commented: “Johnny Irwin episode today, RIP #escapetothecountry.”
The episode in question took Jonnie to Yorkshire with the goal to help couple Nat and Martin find their dream home.
Nat, a police dog handler and Martin, who likewise worked for the police, were due to enter retirement.
They wanted to fulfil their dream of moving to Yorkshire, where the latter has family.
Originally from Hornchurch in East London, the couple explained they had been visiting Yorkshire for around 30 years.
Martin revealed: “It’s our go-to place for a bit of peace and quiet from what has been a hectic thirty years in London.”
Escape to the Country airs on BBC One
