Matt Taylor once again stood in for fan-favourite weather presenter Carol Kirkwood who is on holiday.

Katy, who previously worked on the broadcaster’s regional news show Look North, took to social media to excitedly comment on her guest role.

She wrote: “Guest appearance on @BBCBreakfast this morning, looking ahead to today’s Bank of England interest rate decision. Back after 9.”

Earlier this week BBC Breakfast fans were left rejoicing as bosses changed up the presenting team for the Bank Holiday.

Jon Kay was joined on the red sofa by Nina Warhurst as Sally Nugent enjoyed time off.

Carol was also missing took the Bank Holiday Monday off as she was replaced by Sarah Keith-Lucas, 42.

John Watson was also missing from his usual sport slot as Chetan Pathak appeared in the studio instead.
