EVERY year the Eurovision Song Contest gets everyone talking, and this year is no different.
As tonight’s first round of semi-finals got underway it was one of the host’s that caught the attention of the viewers.
This evening a whole bunch of weird and wonderful acts took to the Eurovision stage in the hope of winning a place in Saturday’s grand final.
But it was host Malin Akerman who got fans talking as they immediately recognised the Swedish actress as being a Hollywood star.
One fan wrote: “Wonderful to see actress Malin on TV! I loved her in 27 dresses”
While another tweeted: “It’s the woman from 27 dresses!”
This one said: “To be honest, I’m watching just for Malin Akerman!”
Malin is joined in the Eurovision hosting duties by comedian Petra Mede, who was also at the helm in 2013 and 2016.
Speaking about presenting Eurovision, Malin said: “I can’t really describe my feelings about this.
“I am very excited and a little nervous, but in a positive way.
“I have always liked Eurovision and to be a part of this fantastic show together with Petra is a dream come true.
“Additionally, Petra is one of the funniest women I’ve ever met.”
Actress Malin is best known for her work in noughties movies, which included starring alongside Katherine Heigl in 27 Dresses (2008).
The movie star was born in Stockholm, but grew up in Canada, and then moved to LA.
Malin made her screen debut in the Canadian sci-fi series Earth: Final Conflict in 1997 playing a robot.
Her career took off after she played the supporting role of Juna in the HBO series The Comeback (2005) alongside Lisa Kudrow.
She later starred alongside Ben Stiller in The Heartbreak Kid (2007).
Her breakthrough movie role came when she was cast as Silk Spectre II in Watchmen (2009).
Other film credits include Couples Retreat (2009), Wanderlust (2012) and Chick Fight (2022).
Between 2016 and 2019 Malin starred in the Showtime series Billions as Lara Axelrod.
Sweden is doing the hosting honours after singer Loreen notched up her second Eurovision win with Tattoo in 2023.
The Swedes have chosen Malmo as the city to welcome acts and fans from across the globe, with the local arena being used as the venue.
The Eurovision final will kick off on Saturday at 8pm.
