AS this year’s MasterChef contestants near the final, fans of the show have been left annoyed with one competition some deemed ‘unfair’ and unnecessary.
At this stage the amateur chefs are required to tackle a professional kitchen environment.
Several MasterChef fans said they did not watch a significant part of tonight’s episode[/caption] The amateur cooks were tasked with preparing a meal at a Soho restaurant[/caption] They raced against the clock to finish their dishes in time[/caption] Viewers complained that this round does not contribute to the competition as none of them are axed[/caption]Five of the remaining contestants were escorted to Nessa, a plush restaurant and bar in Soho.
They were tasked with preparing the midday meal for patrons coming in for some fine dining.
In a shock twist Ecrin actually had to drop out of the event as she became too sick to cook.
The London based manager sadly revealed her condition before getting driven home, saying: “This morning when I arrived I was still unwell. I just can’t carry on like this because I’m really not well.”
While her absence was noted, not many viewers focused on her disappearance as they were left in an uproar after seeing how the labour was divided between the remaining cooks.
Some of the chefs were tasked with making seemingly ‘easier’ starter dishes, while others were left to whip up a main by themselves.
MasterChef fans took to social media to complain, with one person fuming: “The professional kitchen round is so unfair, some of them have less to do than others.”
Another outraged audience member asked: “So one gets a boil in the bag and another gets to BBQ?”
Others felt the segment did not add much to the competition as none of the cooks are eliminated based on the dishes they make for the restaurant.
Someone grumbled: “Totally pointless round as no one leaves & we get to watch people with more money than sense stuffing their faces.”
A second chimed in: “Does anyone else find the professional kitchen segment a bit boring?”
A few fans responded admitting that they don’t even watch it, while one said she was left ‘zoning out’.
