He has seen significant success with stars including the likes of Alexandra Burke, Maisie Smith and Helen Skelton.
They were all runners up as he has also taken to the floor with the likes of Katie Piper, Katie McGlynn and Nikita Kanda.
Every time he is given a new celeb to dance with and train up, he has to spend significant time away from his brood.
His fiance Gemma, 39, has now revealed the impact the long hours the show requires has had over their relationship.
The pair are gearing up for the second series of their show, Gemma and Gorka: Life Behind the Lens.
Often though, he has to dash off to his native Spain to film the spanish version of Strictly Come Dancing, on which he serves as a judge.
Ahead of the new series, Gemma reflected how even though Gorka has to fly abroad to film the show, she spends more time with him now than when he films Strictly Come Dancing.
She told The Sun’s TV Mag: “When they said they wanted another series and we want six episodes, we were like: ‘Oh my God, that’s amazing.’
“And it feels like the right time to do it while I’m still on maternity and with Gorka’s Dancing With The Stars he’s home more than if
he does Strictly.”
She added: “He’s only away Friday afternoons to Sunday mornings, now is the time to do all of this stuff.
“When Gorka is back on tour and I’m back at work full-time, we wouldn’t be able to do it.”
On the show, the engaged couple give a behind-the-scenes glimpse of their life together with their two young children.
But Gorka says how he always longs to be back on the dance floor, even when he is on the judging side of the desk.
The dance pro admitted: “I’m used to being on the frontline and being judged, but it’s good because I know how it feels to be judged and I know how it feels to be there, I try to be as helpful as possible to the couples. It’s a lot of fun and it’s also my first big job in Spain.
I’m enjoying it. I still want to keep dancing, I enjoy it, but I miss dancing.”
He added: “When I’m watching them I want to jump on the dancefloor and dance. It’s not my time yet.”
