EASTENDERS have cast George Knight’s estranged son as they poach an Emmerdale star.
Bosses on the BBC One soap will introduce Junior Knight to viewers as Micah Balfour joins the cast.
He’ll rock up in Walford as his dad continues to spiral following Gloria’s tragic death.
The reason for the father and son’s complicated relationship remains under wraps for now but Junior’s arrival will send shock waves through the family.
Micah previously played PC Benjamin Gayle in The Bill and Jermaine Bailey in Emmerdale.
He has already started filming and EastEnders fans will see him onscreen for the first time later this month.
Speaking about joining Albert Square, Micah said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the cast of EastEnders as part of the Knight family.
“I grew up watching the show and many of the characters have been part of my life for as long as I can remember, so walking onto the Square for the first time was the most surreal experience of my career!
“It’s a privilege to work with Colin Salmon, who I’ve watched with admiration for many years, and Francesca Henry and Molly Rainford, who are dynamite on screen, as well as the amazing Harriet Thorpe and Kellie Bright.
“Junior is an exciting character to play as he’s a complex man, and he’s going to cause a bit of a stir!”
George recently discovered he had been part of a baby farming scheme, before being left horrified to learn that he witnessed his adoptive dad Eddie kill his birth father in a racist attack when he was a teen.
Last month, Eddie faced trial over the death of George’s real dad, and it put further strain on his relationship with his adoptive mum, Gloria.
It all became too much for Gloria, and she collapsed outside the courtroom, before passing away in hospital with George by her side.
In upcoming EastEnders scenes he’s left crushed when Gina and Anna break the news that Rufus held Gloria’s funeral without his knowledge.
EastEnders airs on BBC One and iPlayer.
