TALLIA'S TRIB TO RADIO 'SIS'
BY JORDAN TENNANT
LAURA has been flooded with congratulatory messages after announcing she’ll be joining Fat Brestovci at the helm of the breakfast show.
Outgoing presenter Tallia, who joined the broadcaster last April, was over the moon for her showbiz ‘sister’.
The singer, who has ambitions in the US, said: “I’m so grateful to my big sis taking over the role for me whilst I say goodbye to Scotland for now.
‘She’s going to absolutely smash it.
“Laura has always been an amazing support to me over the years and I’m ready to repay that with any advice or help that I can give.
“She’s going to be great.”
Scores of others also rushed online to wish Laura all the very best.
Radio One’s Arielle Free said: “Oh babe this is amazing news. You’re flogging to be AMAZING.”
Scots host Jenni Falconer added: “Ooh amazing. Congratulations.”
Tallia’s mum added: “Amazing.”
While This Morning star Kate Lawler added: “Well done babe! You’re gonna smash it.”
“My mum and dad are helping me and I’ve got childcare – it’s a nice mix for her to get her own little personality.
“When Capital Breakfast came up I thought ‘let’s just do this’.”
And the former air stewardess reckons she could follow in the footsteps of fellow reality star-turned-broadcaster Alison– after she featured on the 2002 series of Big Brother.
It comes after bosses at the station launched a campaign to find new talent who could be themselves on the airwaves.
Capital host Laura said: “Alison is a great presenter and, like me, she started out on a reality show.
“I think she does well because she is genuinely herself.”
She laughed: “I’m good pals with Alison, I could reach out to her if I needed some advice.
“When I got the Capital gig, they told me ‘Laura we want you because of your personality and we want you to be yourself’.
“That’s what people like to see and hear at home, a familiar voice they can relate to.”
Elsewhere The Scottish Sun lifted the lid on Laura’s top-secret talks with Capital Radio chiefs months before landing her new gig.
