Alongside a picture of the card, which was addressed to Auntie Louise, she wrote: “Am I missing something?” and added a baby emoji.
Given the couple have been together for five years now, many thought that was their way of announcing the news that a little one was on the way.
But Sam sheepishly told the Mail that the babies in question were their furballs, Albus and Cedric.
“In terms of the auntie card, as embarrassing as it is, that was from the cats!” he laughed. “We did a little cat paw as a signature.”
He also added: “A lot of people think, rightly or wrongly, that you’ve got to get married as soon as possible, and have kids, whatever. You know, everyone’s different, everyone’s on their own sort of timelines.”
This is not the first time the couple have sparked speculation, as fans were previously convinced that they had gotten engaged secretly during a romantic holiday in Dubai.
But the pair have denied any such rumours, with Sam telling the Sun: “We speak about marriage a lot, but there’s no pressure to put a ring on it.”
In the interview with the Mail he shared a little more about their unique situation, saying: “I know I want to be with her for the rest of my life, so there’s no rush. If you know that someone is the one… you know, it’s more so a time thing.
“Zara is as busy or more busy than I am, she’s absolutely flying and she doesn’t have time to plan a wedding and I don’t either at the moment. I know I want to be with her and she wants to be with me so that’s good enough at the moment.”
